TN VISAS
Available to Citizens of Canada and Mexico

The TN visa is a non-immigrant visa available only to citizens of Canada and Mexico.

It allows Canadian and Mexican citizens the opportunity to work in the United States in certain professional occupations and is similar to the H-1B visa, but has many distinct features.  Similar to an H-1B visa, the holder of a TN visa can work in the United States for up to three years at a time, however unlike the H-1B visa, the TN can be extended indefinitely in three-year increments.  The spouse and dependent children of someone with a TN work visa may apply for TD-1 status (for the family members of a Canadian workers), or TD-2 status (for the family members of a Mexican worker). Either TD status does not allow for the family members to work, although they may attend school.
